5-minute healthy dessert ideas + hacks

Everyone seemed to love my healthy breakfast ideas, so I’m back with some amazing time-saving food hacks, recipes and ideas! Everyone wants to be healthy, but unfortunately, time isn’t on everyone’s side. I’m here to help! It’s possible to be healthy, create delicious food and save time all at once. Let’s get into it!

1 Banana nice-cream

Got any ripe bananas lying around? Turn them into “nice-cream”! Banana “nice-cream” is a sweet, delicious and healthy alternative to ice-cream. The best thing? It requires only one ingredient! Yep, you heard me right! This means you can make the recipe in whatever quantity you want, and never go wrong! There are so many delicious things you can add to it, the combinations are endless! Here’s the recipe to get you started.

Ingredients:
Bananas

Instructions:
Peel the bananas
Cut into chunks (not too big!)
Freeze banana chunks (you can use a tray, or a zip-lock bag) overnight, or for as long as they need until frozen
Take frozen banana chunks (and your additions, if you are adding things) and process them until a smooth, soft-serve ice-cream consistency (if it is too soft for your liking, freeze until desired consistency)

Some things you could add include other fruit, cinnamon, yogurt, or whatever suits your taste!

Hack: Make sure you always keep frozen bananas in the freezer, that way, it will only take 5 minutes to prepare the nice-cream, whenever you want it!

2 Fruit Sorbet

Similar to the banana nice-cream, you can also make a delicious, healthy dessert with a sorbet-like consistency! It’s also super quick, and requires only a few ingredients! You can’t go wrong with the quantities for your chosen frozen fruit, so go crazy (not too crazy, though)! There are so many delicious fruits you could use for this dessert, but here are some ideas!

Ingredients:
Your chosen fruit (raspberries, strawberries and melon are perfect!)
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tbsp warm water

Instructions:
Cut fruit into chunks (if required)
Freeze overnight (you could use pre-frozen, packaged fruit)
Once frozen, process in food processor with lemon (and other ingredients) until forms chunks
Add the warm water
Process the ingredients until it’s a smooth sorbet-like consistency
If it is too soft for your liking, freeze until desired consistency

There are so many different fruits you could use! So you can customise the sorbet to your liking. If you prefer a sweeter sorbet, you can add a teaspoon of honey to sweeten it (especially if you are using raspberries).

Hack: Stock up on pre-frozen fruit at the supermarket! This will mean you have the sorbet ingredients ready whenever you need it, and it will only take minutes to prepare!

3 Fruit Chips

These are delicious, healthy alternatives to chips, and they are perfect for snacking, or when you are on-the-run! Make batches in advance, so you always have a stock of chips handy. These may take a while to cook, so make sure you reserve some time for when you aren’t busy (quarantine, of course!) There are so many different fruits you could use! To start, apple is one of the best. Here’s how to make them!

Ingredients:
3 apples
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit
Slice apples horizontally into thin rounds
Arrange apple slices on a tray, with baking paper
Sprinkle over cinnamon
Bake for 30 minutes – 1 hour (depends on the moisture content and thickness of your apples)

Hack: Prepare a time when you can be available to monitor the apple slices, it’s totally worth it!

4 Frozen Yogurt Popsicles

These are a perfect healthy alternative to popsicles! So much so, that they can be eaten for breakfast, especially on the run! There are so many fruit spins you can put on this recipe, but here’s a raspberry popsicle recipe to get you going. This recipe makes 10 popsicles (depends on your moulds)

Ingredients:
2 cups greek yogurt
1 cup raspberries (fresh or frozen)
1 tsp vanila extract (optional)

Instructions:
Place all ingredients in a food proccessor and blend until smooth
Divide between popsicle moulds
Freeze overnight (or until frozen)

Hack: Keep a bunch of these in the freezer for a perfect on-the-go, healthy treat!

5 Chocolate mousse

Okay, I know what you are thinking. How can chocolate mousse be healthy? Well, turns out it can! And it takes only 5 minutes to make too! This recipe is foolproof, and there are so many delicious additions you can add. Here’s how to make the mousse! Serves one.

Ingredients:
1 avocado
5 tbsp cacao powder
2 tsp maple syrup (to taste, optional if you prefer a stronger, darker chocolate mousse)

Instructions:
Place all ingredients in a food processor
Blend until smooth

That’s literally it! It is so simple, easy and delicious. The best thing? It’s super healthy and sugar-free (if you add no maple syrup). When you make this, why don’t you add some fresh fruit? Yum!

Hack: This recipe is a hack itself! It can be made in minutes, and is perfect for a quick, healthy dessert option.

That’s all I have today for everyone, I hope you enjoyed! Let me know if you tried any of these in the comments, and if you have any other quick, healthy dessert ideas! While we’re on the time-saving topic, why don’t you check out some of my 5-minute breakfast ideas, or my time-saving hacks?
